Key Housing
This Association aims to provide housing in the community for adults with learning difficulties. The housing is a mixture of general needs rented and supported accommodation. The association has 25 properties in Argyll and Bute – in Cowal and Helensburgh.
Anyone needing supported accommodation from Key Housing needs to be nominated by Argyll and Bute Council’s Social Work department. The Social Work department will assess what type of support people need, and make nominations to Key Housing when there is a vacancy.
To help achieve balanced communities, some houses are rented to tenants who do not need support. Whilst they are not required to give any formal input into the project they are asked to be a ‘good neighbour’. This involves providing informal help and assistance to other people living in the development.
